In my case the IDE cable was bad. The connector at the end was not
making contact w/the ribbon cable. It actually fell off. I put a brand
new ASUS cable on and it was bad also. Connector was loose on the
cable. I did not mess it up. It had those straps on it so you could pull
it off w/out tearing up the cable.
