[COLUG] Fedora F8 suspend/resume problems

I recently installed a new kernel (normal update)
and not my laptop no longer resumes from a suspend to memory.

I tried not using the Nvidia driver, it has caused issues in the past, but
still no go.  Symptoms are the webcam seems to activate (the little light 
comes on when the driver is activated).  I get an underscore (cursor) top 
left of the screen.

X kind of works, I can switch between virtual displays EG. ctl alt f1 goes to
a command line prompt.  but I can't login and X never really activates the
kde screen.

Before I embarrass myself, I was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions
on how to gather more documentation or debug.

The kernel I'm running that caused the failure is
2.6.25.6-27.fc8  and before now it has resumed flawlessly.
