[COLUG] Permissions Problem

Stephen,

Did you have any luck performing uid/gid/suid/sgid surgery on the /usr tree or was it simply a faster fix to wipe and reinstall?

Thanks for the reply. Actually I can run krusader with an icon as a user.
It's when I attempt to open a root mode copy of krusader, either in krusader
or from the K menu that I get the error.

The only way that I seem to be able to open a root mode copy is if I first
open a root shell then use krusader &.

If I attempt to open krusader with a run command (alt-F2) Run as a different
user I get an incorrect password message from KDesktop.

If I open a konsole window as a user, su runs just fine and dumps me into root
after I input the password.

Also, pe your suggesion, I ge the following:

computation at abnormal:~> ls -l krusader
ls: cannot access krusader: No such file or directory
[1]+ Done krusader
computation at abnormal:~> ls -l su
ls: cannot access su: No such file or directory
computation at abnormal:~>

I changed the /usr tree permissions by using Properties/Permissions tab in a
root mode krusader. Changing the permissions back to root/root using the
same method did not solve the problem.
