DSL isn't shared bandwidth at the end point, but both cable and DSL
depending how the networks are structured will be shared at one or more
locations. DSL speed is affected by distance and size of the copper wire
used, if there is line boosters installed etc etc etc, so while 768kbps
might be possible equipment wise there is other factors that can reduce
speed still.
